Health Care Reform Matters

Changing the national health care system is today’s single largest issue in Washington. It’s clear from the debate on all sides that it is not an easy task, and the complexities of the current system and proposed plans make the challenge even more difficult.
CalPERS has been asked why national health care reform is important to CalPERS members. As the nation’s second largest health care purchaser, we believe that the cost of not fixing the system will be worse than leaving it alone. Health care costs have risen for CalPERS many times over in the last decade.
