CalPERS supports the consideration of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards in investing. Anne Simpson, CalPERS Senior Portfolio Manager for Corporate Governance, outlines the value of ESG on Insight, CalPERS Video Conversations with CalPERS Leaders. Simpson states, “We’re already seeing companies that we engage with talking to us about environmental impact, talking to us about human rights issues and their supply chain. And really understanding that all of this affects corporate performance, it affects reputation, and therefore ultimately affects our investments.”
