Third Quarter Shows Continued Recovery for Pension Funds

A U.S. Census Bureau report shows the assets of the 100 largest U.S. pension funds rose 6.2 percent in the third quarter of 2010. A Reuters report on the Census Bureau figures also points out that fund assets rose 5.2 percent from the same period last year marking a fourth consecutive year-over-year quarterly increase. CalPERS assets fell to $160 billion during the financial meltdown and now stand at $222 billion.
