Myths vs. Facts
Myth: CalPERS members will have no choice in what health benefits they receive. They will have to go into a public plan.

Fact:
The concepts currently being discussed in Washington do not take away CalPERS member benefits. We assume that employer-based plans would remain the same. The benefit to CalPERS members and employers is a more efficient national health care system, which provides insurance for all. Such a system would keep employer-based plans from not having to subsidize the uninsured.
